Exceptional work once again by Passion Pictures with Carl, the dancing wombat. My contributions were extensive and detailed, beginning with a comprehensive update to Carl's entire body rig. This involved intricate adjustments to ensure fluid and natural movements, enhancing the overall realism of the character. The advanced facial rig I developed incorporated a multitude of control points, allowing for a wide range of expressive animations that captured the subtleties of Carl's personality.

Moreover, I meticulously weighted the animatable clothing to support the sophisticated work of the clothing simulation team. This involved precise calibration to ensure that the clothing moved naturally with Carl's body, responding accurately to his dynamic dance movements. A particularly challenging aspect was the implementation of a novel adipose deformation system around Carl's abdomen. This system utilised a mathematically driven automated weight control algorithm, employing an ease-in, ease-out methodology. This approach ensured that the deformations were smooth and natural as the controllers approached and passed through specific thresholds.

The innovative fatty setup around Carl's stomach was designed to enhance the realism of the deformations, allowing for better interaction between the body and the clothing. This setup involved creating a weight controller matrix that dynamically adjusted based on Carl's movements, providing a more realistic and believable appearance. The algorithm was fine-tuned to respond to various parameters, ensuring that the deformations were consistent and visually appealing.
